Update

Because it's been too long. Here's a list of the goings-on in Meagan's life since school started.

1. I thought Newswriting was going to be ridiculously hard; turns out, Jon Marshall's only a little harder than Julie Truck. And he seems to know what he's doing, which is always a plus. Our class's theme is education, and my group's going to focus on parental involvement/interference in the school system. And sadly, I'm really, really excited about it. I get to interview actual people for a change, instead of hunting down random people on the streets of Evanston or having a fake press conference. On Thursday we got to practice in the television studio, and I got to work on the soundboard, man a camera and work the teleprompter. I felt like a 10-year-old at Space Camp, I swear.

2. Classes are going smoothly - I'm not even behind yet, except for reading in Newswriting. And yes, I did kind of skip one lecture of Stats, but as soon as the lecture notes get posted I'll be fine. (Honestly, 9:30 AM class at Annenberg? Sooo far and sooo early.) Russian Lit lectures are completely pointless, because all the professor does is summarize what happens and then explain the entire book, in case you are retarded and can't understand the nuances of anything on your own. I'm actually participating in Spanish this quarter (madness!) and I think my GPA might actually be good this quarter. Let's hope.

3. Working in the dungeon of the library is as scary and dark as ever, but apparently I might be getting promoted. Because I'm really good at typing and shelving and organizing perms. Sigrid says she wasn't sure yet, because there's some form they have to fill out for personnel and it might be too late to change my job status, but if it happens, I'll make more money. (Maybe even over $7 an hour? It's a dream come true.)

4. Essentially, this year is just going so much more smoothly than last year, when I was petrified of everything and didn't know what was going on, much less where all the buildings were. And I'm loving Hinman (except for the spiders, which are plentiful), even if my room is tiny. (Seriously - no room for the fridge, it has to go on top of one of the wardrobes.) So here's the gist of this entry: yay for college! And yay for volunteering at Block Cinema, because I got free passes to see "Pride and Prejudice" on Wednesday.

Do let me knew how Pride and Prejudice is.

(The movie, right, with Keira Knightly?)
